Compliance support for venture capital fund managers in Singapore.

Get practical compliance support for your venture capital fund management firm in Singapore, with a workplan based on your activities and the distinct VCFM framework. Agree ownership of selected policies, submissions, monitoring and management reporting.

Discuss your compliance needs

Support shaped around how your firm works.

This support may be useful if you are:

  • An existing VCFM that wants clearer ownership of recurring compliance work.
  • A manager reviewing whether its policies, records and reporting still fit its activities.
  • A prospective applicant connecting application preparation with a practical operating model.

We confirm suitability and scope case by case. Your firm’s activities and circumstances—not its sector label alone—determine what may be needed.

Choose the support you actually need.

After reviewing your activities, current arrangements, internal ownership and priorities, we can agree which workstreams belong in the engagement. We assess the VCFM framework separately from the A/I LFMC regime.[1] The submission workplan draws on MAS’s VCFM toolkit and the requirements relevant to your firm.[2]

01

Regulatory perimeter workplan

Use your current fund summaries, investment mandate and operating arrangements to prepare an agreed workplan. Flag questions about the VCFM framework and the information needed to resolve them.

02

Conflicts and governance documentation

Review selected conflicts declarations, registers and decision records. Set out gaps, proposed follow-up and the decisions that need approval from the appropriate people within your firm.

03

Selected policy maintenance

Review or update agreed policies against how the firm actually works. You receive a marked-up draft and an action list for management to approve, implement and explain to the people using it.

04

Compliance calendar and submissions

Turn applicable submissions and internal review points into a calendar with named owners, preparation dates and supporting records. We help prepare agreed materials; your firm checks, approves and submits them.

05

Monitoring and management reporting

Review selected records against agreed questions, then report what the evidence supports, what is missing and what needs a decision. Track actions, owners and follow-up evidence within the agreed scope.

06

Targeted training and queries

Work through practical policy questions or prepare a focused training session around an agreed issue. Management makes the decisions, ensures staff participation and runs the controls.

What an agreed working month could look like.

A fictional VCFM example showing how priorities become review work and management actions. Actual work and frequency depend on your engagement.

  1. 01

    Plan

A director declares an interest in a business connected with a proposed investment. Management provides the declaration, relevant records and the question it wants reviewed.

  2. 02

    Review

AA reviews the agreed conflict records and policy provisions, then sets out missing information and questions for the appropriate decision-makers.

  3. 03

    Follow up

Management decides how to address the conflict and records the rationale, approvals and any conditions. AA updates the agreed action tracker from the evidence provided.

  4. 04

    Discuss

Review what remains open and who will act. Writing “conflicts managed” in a register tells the next reviewer very little; retain the reasoning and supporting records.

This is an illustrative planning aid, with fictional workstreams and no prescribed regulatory deadlines. It is not a complete compliance calendar or a substitute for assessing your firm's requirements.

Know what sits outside the scope.

  • Applying an A/I LFMC compliance programme without first assessing what is relevant.
  • Legal structuring of funds, tax advice or investor documentation.
  • Fund management, investment selection or capital raising.
  • A promise that external support meets any staffing requirement.

Management keeps ownership.

  • Keep portfolios and activities within the applicable VCFM framework.
  • Maintain governance, personnel and operational resources appropriate to the business.
  • Make and document management decisions.
  • Provide accurate information and approve regulatory submissions.

What we’ll clarify together.

  1. Do your proposed funds and activities fall within the VCFM framework?
  2. Which controls fit the manager’s strategy, structure and conflicts?
  3. Which recurring submissions and internal reviews need named owners?
  4. Where would ongoing capacity be more useful than one-off drafting help?

What you may want to know.

Is VCFM compliance the same as A/I LFMC compliance?

No. Some control themes may overlap, but the applicable framework and your business activities need to be assessed separately.

Does the VCFM regime remove all ongoing compliance work?

No. A streamlined regime does not remove the manager’s responsibility to understand and meet the requirements that apply to its business.

Can support include an application?

Potentially. We scope application support separately after reviewing the proposed activity and your current readiness.

Discuss the scope of your VCFM engagement.

You work directly with Jackie throughout the engagement. If a compliance question arises between scheduled reviews, you can raise it with him within the agreed scope. We confirm the work covered, how issues are escalated and which decisions remain with your management team.

Compare outsourced compliance scope and responsibilities and review our published packages and fees. For application preparation, read the VCFM licence and industry-experience guide; application support is scoped separately from recurring compliance work.
